The C word

17th July 2017

A recent report by Macmillan Cancer Support has revealed the prevalence of new cancer diagnoses in UK society today. But the report goes further, looking not only at the statistics, but also our attitudes towards cancer; 'The Big C' recognising and highlighting our fears and impressions of what a cancer diagnosis means.

When compared to other diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, or Multiple Sclerosis, the Macmillan report shows that cancer is the most feared disease today. In fact, for 1 in 10 people, cancer is their greatest fear of all. Remarkably, fearing this more than being murdered, terrorism, or the death of a loved one!

With diagnoses on the rise: every day, around 1000 people across the UK will find out they have cancer, and fear at an all-time high; what are we doing to protect ourselves?

Certainly, lifestyle choices can be a contributing factor in some circumstances, but making healthy diet and exercise decisions (whilst always recommended), are not the only things we can do to protect ourselves.

To be clear, we are not saying we have the answers to ensure you don't get cancer, but we can ensure that the fear of this disease, in and of itself, is not exacerbated by any financial worries that may come about due to a diagnosis.

By having a comprehensive insurance portfolio in place, means you can have peace of mind for the best and worst possible outcomes.
